Pixar’s Dylan Sisson will show how recent advancements in RenderMan were used to create the stunning look of Pixar’s award-winning animated short, Piper. Speakers Profile:  
David Laur - Director of Product Management, RenderMan
David joined the RenderMan engineering group at Pixar in 1996 after working in scientific visualization for 10 years. At Pixar he has worked on the deep internals of the rendering code, as well as many user interfaces and system integration projects. Solving the problems of parallel and distributed rendering have recurring themes in his engineering work, especially in the context of productions at studios using the world’s largest render farms. David is the primary author of both the Alfred and Tractor commercial job queueing systems, and he received an Academy Scientific Achievement Award in recognition of the that work. He holds several patents for ray tracing innovations in RenderMan, and has published scientific papers at ACM SIGGRAPH and elsewhere. Mr. Laur was recently named Director of Product Management for RenderMan, a role in which he oversees sales and marketing efforts for the product as well providing strategic guidance for the engineering team. Outside work David is interested in theatrical lighting for the stage, beautiful motorcycles, and time with family.

Dylan Sisson - RenderMan Specialist
A passionate interest in art and technology led Dylan Sisson to join the RenderMan Products at Pixar Animation Studios. Since his arrival at the studio in 1999, Dylan has been engaged in the development and promotion of Pixar's RenderMan, and has spoken at numerous conferences around the world. Dylan is also the creator of Pixar's RenderMan Walking Teapot. ?

Prior to Pixar, Dylan began his career creating animation and VFX for console games and commercials. Today Dylan is also an active artist, toy designer, and the creator of several award-winning independent animated shorts.
