Modeling

Cinema 4D has always made it easy to create objects interactively, and the process is even easier in Release 19 with improved keyboard modifiers for object insertion. You can simplify objects with a fast and flexible Polygon Reduction generator. There are more modeling advances under the hood, with a new modeling core to power tomorrow’s tools.

Polygon Reduction

Cinema 4D’s new polygon Reduction tool works as a generator, so it’s easy to reduce entire hierarchies. The reduction is pre-calculated, so adjusting the Reduction Strength or desired vertex count is extremely fast. And best of all, the Polygon Reduction preserves Vertex Maps, Selection tags and UV coordinates, ensuring textures continue to map properly and providing control over areas where polygon detail is preserved.

MODELING CORE

Release 19 offers the first small glimpse of work being done under the hood to build a new foundation for modeling tools. Cinema 4D’s new modeling core includes improved native support for edges, N-gons and other surface attributes. Release 19 exposes just a small piece of the new core – reworked algorithms for the Align Normals and Reverse Normals commands, which are more reliable and better handle N-gons and surface attributes.

Object Insertion

Cinema 4D’s hierarchy is key to designing at the speed of creativity, and Release 19 makes it easier than ever to apply generators and deformers to multiple objects. Modeling operations that took dozens of drag-and-drops and now be accomplished with modifier keys. Quickly add generators as parents of every selected object by holding the Alt/Option key, or add deformers to every selected object by holding the Shift key. Hold Ctrl to add new objects as a sibling of each selected object, or Alt-Ctrl to regroup all the selected objects under a single new object.
