V-Ray 3.6 for SketchUp, with full support for SketchUp 2018, is here.
We know that architects and designers love SketchUp’s ease of use and quick modelling features, so we built a version of V-Ray which seamlessly slots into its simple work environment. And our users love it.
With V-Ray 3.6 for SketchUp, we’re bringing cutting-edge features from V-Ray for Max and Maya to SketchUp. For the first time, we’re releasing this version at the same time as Trimble releases SketchUp 2018, so you can start using the newest features of both immediately.
Here’s a rundown of what’s new in V-Ray 3.6 for Sketchup.
Powerful GPU & new hybrid rendering: V-Ray 3.6 for SketchUp includes faster, more powerful GPU rendering capabilities, with added support for aerial perspective, displacement, subsurface scattering, matte/shadows, and more. In addition, V-Ray GPU running on NVIDIA CUDA can take full advantage of all available hardware, including CPUs and GPUs.
Viewport rendering: View your V-Ray renders without ever leaving the SketchUp viewport. Choose which parts of the image you want to render, so you can check that lamp on the table looks just right. Plus, you can blend between your V-Ray render and SketchUp model with the + and – keys.
Smarter UI: We’ve made V-Ray for SketchUp’s interface cleaner and more simple. If you’re lucky enough to own a 4K monitor, you’ll find better support for high resolutions.
Asset manager: It’s easy to lose track of your textures, IES files, and proxy files. Our new all-in-one asset manager gives you an overview of everything in the scene, and allows you to set file paths and create scene archives.
New V-Ray color picker: A new color picker which is simple and powerful. Select color values in Screen sRGB (0–255) or Rendering (0.0–1.0) color space.
Adaptive lights: This timesaver analyzes the lights in your scene, and prioritizes the most important ones. On certain scenes, it’ll cut your render times by up to 700%.
VRscans compatibility: Add incredible levels of realism to your projects with Chaos Group’s library of over 600 photorealistic materials captured with our accurate scanning technology.
And loads more!
