Film Master

Flexible, creative, effective
When we designed Film Master, we started by talking to the industry¡¯s top colourists. Our vision was clear, a system that was so intuitive that it would never compromise creativity. So rather than using inflexible linear workflows, Film Master is data centric. That means you can grade at any point; either before, during or after the edit and effects work. You can now grade at full resolution, uncompressed, anything shot on film or video. Try that with a conventional system.

Ingest using EDL, AAF or cutlist. You can conform data or video, then have the system apply transitions and varispeed commands automatically for you. You can also grade, add image filters and effects then master to multiple image and video formats via LAN, SAN, and SD or HD SDI.

Making complex jobs simpler
Film Master¡¯s list management gives you the visual feedback to make even the most complex jobs easier. You save time, and grading longform projects becomes much more productive than with any linear workflow.

List management functions include:
   • Thumbnails and new ¡®event¡¯ view in the timeline
   • Multiple memories ¨C from event, video tracks, play heads and notes ¨C so it¡¯s easy to reference and recall any effect from any shot on the list quickly and easily
   • Access unlimited notes with folders from all projects and from outside Film Master
   • Recall all memory settings or any individual colour correction, effect or layer combination
   • Full-screen memories bin with sizable images
   • Use events and memories as full resolution reference frames
   • One-button shortcuts to recall from previous or next shot or ¡°- and + shots for dual camera scenes
   • Fingertip access to 8 Quick Notes per project
   • Multiple play heads allow you to navigate, compare and recall from different parts of the timeline

Film Master supports all aspects of the Digital Intermediate process:
   • Unlimited layers of colour enhancements
   • Apply looks and effects on a clip, sequence or roll basis
   • Isolate areas of a picture or scene with pinpoint accuracy
   • Achieve dynamic grades and animation of effects parameters

   • Apply unlimited shapes to each layer to add, subtract and combine with the alpha channel
   • Manipulate and track individual shapes on a transform or per point basis

Intuitive controls
To re-order layers and effects, just drag and drop. Film Master¡¯s viewing tools including the pixel probe,
histogram and colour correction curves, so you can understand exactly what is happening to the image.

Take control with Notes
Managing set-ups across rolls and projects is simple using Film Master¡¯s ¡°Notes¡±, which allow absolute control over what you store and recall.

New colour tools
New colour tools include multiple blend modes like dodge, burn, hardlight, softlight, lighten and darken.

Straight to the scene you want - automatically
Film Master automatically identifies and marks scene cuts on the timeline, in the background, so you can start grading immediately. Better client presentations, faster. This scene detector is based on Digital Vision¡¯s DVNR scene detector; widely regarded as the most accurate available.

The industry standard
Film Master - a resolution-independent, end-to-end finishing solution for feature films, commercials, long form television, and restoration. Film Master projects can be viewed and rendered in all Digital Vision software systems, releasing the system for further client work. Eight or sixteen CPU cores.
